Application:
|
|
|
Apply poultice approximately 1/4 inch thick to
afflicted area. Form poultice into a square shape, if possible, to make
bordering easier.
|
|
|
|
Apply a wet wash cloth directly
on poultice, try to fold the cloth so that it goes right to the edge of
the material. |
|
Border cloth with a large dry towel,
making sure no skin is exposed. Take the towel and fold until it is
approximately 4 inches wide. In the illustrations above you can see that
the towel is folded over on each corner which gives you a solid border.
Make sure you place another dry towel over border and cloth. Do not fold
this towel. Place the towel right up against the edge of the
cloth.
|
|
Place hydrocollator or hot water
bottle on top. Hydrocollator should be boiled for one hour prior to
treatment. Hot water bottle should also contain boiling water and about
half full. |
|
Cover hydrocollator or water bottle with one or
two towels to maintain heat. Keep hot water bottle on the poultice
approximately 30 minutes. (After treatment relax & stay warm for the
next hour or two as the treated area cools down.) |
|
If the poultice becomes too hot, pull back the
two towels with the hotwater bottle in the middle and dowse the cloth that
is directly on top of the poultice with cold water. Replace the top layers
of the towels and hot water bottle, check border to see that it is
replaced correctly; hydrocollator heat may cause skin burns if exposed
directly to the skin. |
|
Avoid movement during treatment, as the poultice
is drying it may crack and cause burning. |
| To remove the
poultice, a bowl is recommended, as it is dry and can be scraped off like
a pancake. To wipe clean, use a wet washcloth and rotate in a circular
motion. Moisturizing cream may be used after treatment to alleviate
dryness.
Botanical mineral baths have been used and
proven effective for the above indications for centuries in Europe.
Dosage: Use as
often as necessary. Poultice may be used solely or in conjunction with a
submersion bath immediately after perspiration.
